Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities

The annual Governor’s Awards for the Arts and Humanities will be held in Juneau on January 29, 2015. This event is presented by the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Alaska Humanities Forum and the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation. The selection of awardees is coordinated with the Office of the Governor. Alaskans statewide are invited to nominate individuals and organizations who have made noteworthy contributions to the arts and humanities. These awards are meant to honor significant achievements by Alaskan arts and humanities organizations, artists, writers, historians, scholars and others.

The categories for the 2015 Governor’s Awards for the Arts are: Arts Education, Native Arts, Arts Organization and Individual Artist. In addition, the Alaska State Council on the Arts’ Literary Advisory Committee will accept nominations for the State Writer Laureate, who will be appointed by the Governor to a two-year term (2015-2016).
