Alaska Transition to Teaching (AKT2)

Phase VI - Final Evaluation

In their second year of teaching in a partner district, AKT2 candidates will show they are ready to exit the program by submitting a portfolio of documents from their classroom that demonstrate their proficiency in meeting the Beginning Teacher Standards and Competencies. Candidates will participate in an exit interview. They will also need to obtain the recommendation of their district superintendent or designee.

During the second year of teaching, AKT2 candidates may also choose to complete the two courses necessary to obtain Professional Teacher Certification in Alaska, if the candidate wishes to continue teaching after completing the AKT2 program.

The successful candidate will exit the AKT2 program with a state recommendation for teacher certification.
