No Child Left Behind
State of Alaska > Department of Education & Early Development > No Child Left Behind

Alaska has entered its second decade of school reform where students, teachers and schools need to meet high standards. Our state's school reform effort ( PDF) is joined by a similar reform effort approved by the U.S. Congress called the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). NCLB brings enormous challenges to our state. The promise of NCLB is that every child will learn state standards in core subjects. Alaskans embrace that goal. The goals of our Alaska school reform initiative and the NCLB are one and the same. This web site is aimed at helping policy makers, educators, parents and others become familiar with NCLB. Together, we can make sure all children have a bright future.
