No Child Left Behind
School Choice and Supplemental Services
Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, students in schools that fail to make adequate yearly progress (AYP) for two consecutive years can transfer to a better-performing school in their district. Schools also must provide supplemental services, such as tutoring and summer school, for students attending schools that do not make AYP for two years. Technical assistance also must be provided to such schools.
