Curriculum Alignment Framework

The Curriculum Alignment Framework created by stakeholders in Alaska, provides the ground work for districts to align their materials and resources to the Alaska Grade Level Expectations (GLE). The Framework is downloadable in a Word format. A district should review the skills and content columns with district educators as a staff development process. Once the district educators have reviewed the content and skills sections, the materials and resources within the district can be identified and listed.

It is important to note: when selecting materials and resources, the content complexity or depth of knowledge level must be considered when matching to the GLE. The sample format, Committee Procedure for Assigning Cognitive Complexity Levels, can assist districts in the materials and resource selection process. Additionally, the Webb Depth of Knowledge Levels for language arts, math, and science are also useful in the selection process. Finally, guidance has been provided for districts needing evidence of alignment for peer review, Evidence of Alignment and Complexity Guidance.
