ALASKA FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT RESOURCES
The following formative assessment resources are meant for Alaska educators only. They are intended for classroom use, to provide student feedback to teachers throughout the school year. Teachers can use the assessments to guide and improve instructional methods. If you have any questions regarding the use of formative assessments, contact the EED assessment office at (907) 465-2900.
Alaska Computerized Formative Assessments (ACFA)
ACFA are computer-based formative assessments using the CAL online computer test delivery and reporting system. Items are linked to specific Alaska content standards and grade level expectations (GLEs) in reading and mathematics for grades
3-10. The system is intended to provide feedback that can be used to adapt teaching and learning to meet student needs.

The Measuring Student Progress Committee developed a bank of formative assessments aligned to the Alaska Grade Level Expectations in math, reading, and writing for grades 3-10.
NAEP Assessment Toolbox for Teachers
The is a collection of classroom activities using released questions from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The NAEP is often called the gold standard of assessment and NAEP questions are held in high regard for their ability to assess both content and critical thinking.
