Driven by a desire to better prepare graduates for college and careers, the department with the support of Alaska educators and stakeholders has revised the English Language Arts and Mathematics Standards to adequately prepare Alaskan students to compete globally. The Standards were adopted June 2012.
Tools to support districts in the awareness, transition, and implementation phases.
The Fourth Edition Standards booklet contains content Standards, Performance Standards, and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) adopted by the Alaska State Board of Education in March 2006. Content areas include English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Geography, Government and Citizenship, History, Skills for a Healthy Life, Arts, World Languages, Technology, Employability, Library/Information Literacy, Cultural Standards, and Alaska History.
Provides access to the 345 lessons in the AKSCI database aligned with Alaska Science Grade Level Expectations (GLEs). Although Alaska Science GLEs have been defined for grades 3-11, the AKSCI database also contains preparatory lessons for Grades K-2.
This booklet contains performance standards/grade level expectations for kindergarten through grade 2.

The State Board of Education adopted the Alaska Physical Education Standards in March 2010. Standards-based physical education is essential for the health and well-being of every Alaska student including those with special needs.
These files are available for districts to use for aligning curriculum to the standards. The framework can be customized by adding local standards to meet the needs of the individual districts. The Framework outlines the content and skills of each GLE; districts can add materials and resources available for an aligned curriculum.
This booklet contains GLEs that have been reduced in complexity to provide entry points to the Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) while still providing challenging academic expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Writing GLEs and 6 Traits Alignment
Creative ideas to engage and motivate students as they gain writing skills at each grade level. Each idea and/or plan is aligned with both the Alaska GLEs and the 6 Writing Traits.
