New banner Proposed New Alaska Standards - Driven by a desire to better prepare graduates for college and careers, the department with the support of Alaska educators and stakeholders has revised the English Language Arts and Mathematics Standards to adequately prepare Alaskan students to compete globally.

Alaska Content and Performance Standards Booklet - this PDF booklet contains all content standards, performance standards, and Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) adopted by the Alaska State Board of Education in March 2006. MS Word versions of the grade level expectations are provided in the below table by content area for reading, writing, mathematics in grades 3-10; and science in grades 3-11.

Alaska K-12 Science Curricular Initiative - provides access to the 345 lessons in the AKSCI database aligned with Alaska Science Grade Level Expectations (GLEs). Although Alaska Science GLEs have been defined for grades 3-11, the AKSCI database also contains preparatory lessons for Grades K-2.

Alaska Performance Standards Booklet for Kindergarten - Grade 2 - this booklet contains performance standards/grade level expectations for kindergarten through grade 2.

Physical Education Standards - The State Board of Education adopted the Alaska Physical Education Standards in March 2010. Standards-based physical education is essential for the health and well-being of every Alaska student including those with special needs.

Curriculum Alignment Framework - these files are available for districts to use for aligning curriculum to the standards. The framework can be customized by adding local standards to meet the needs of the individual districts. The Framework outlines the content and skills of each GLE; districts can add materials and resources available for an aligned curriculum.

Grade Level Expectations in Comma Separated Value Format - these files contain all GLEs for Reading, Mathematics, Writing and Science in a comma separated value format. Files contain all grades or individual grades.

Extended Grade Level Expectations (ExGLEs) for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities - this booklet contains GLEs that have been reduced in complexity to provide entry points to the Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) while still providing challenging academic expectations for students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Writing GLEs and 6 Traits Alignment - Creative ideas to engage and motivate students as they gain writing skills at each grade level. Each idea and/or plan is aligned with both the Alaska GLEs and the 6 Writing Traits.
