School Improvement Grant Awardees for 2010-2011
Alaska is pleased to announce the School Improvement Grant 1003g awards for 2010-2011. These grants were funded through the Title I School Improvement Grant 1003g funds allocated through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as well as through regular Congressional appropriation. Alaska had a total of $10,190,262 to award to eligible schools that elected to apply for these competitive funds to implement one of four rigorous school improvement models.
When the U.S. Department of Education set new parameters for federal school improvement support this year, 31 schools in 10 districts in Alaska were identified as eligible to apply for grant funding based on being persistently lowest-achieving. Applications were submitted by 3 districts on behalf of 7 of the schools. Each district submitted a district-level application and a supplement for each school. The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development worked with each district to refine their applications and budgets to fully implement the required components of the chosen model. All applications received were funded for the 2010-2011 school year. The final approved applications and budgets for 2010-2011 are provided below. Approval of proposed budgets for subsequent years (2011-12 and 2012-13) will be based on school and district performance on meeting the goals in each application and in the implementation of the agreed-upon plan. More information on the four federal models, the Alaska state application, resources, and other information is available under links presented at the end of this page.
